Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Licensing Engineer 3 to advance licensing work for our nuclear technologies. You will develop assigned sections of license applications and safety basis content, following regulations, standards, and guidance, while mentoring junior staff.

You will collaborate with regulatory authorities, coordinate SME inputs, and ensure timely responses to regulator requests. This is a senior technical writing and leadership role in a fast-growing energy startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science field.
• 10+ years in nuclear licensing, regulatory affairs, or related field.
• Strong technical writing and document planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Author license applications and safety documentation per regulations.
• Build regulatory conformance matrices and descriptions of compliance.
• Annotate content with source documents and coordinate SME reviews.
• Identify SME inputs and manage review approvals within defined lanes.
• Prepare responses to regulator requests and track resolution.
• Maintain chapter care packages: inputs, baselines, references.
• Mentor licensing engineers and review their work products.
