Job summary

The ASPCA Community Veterinary Clinic (CVC) seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician Staff and Floor Manager to oversee medical and floor operations for high-volume spay/neuter and routine care in New York.

You will supervise a veterinary team, assist veterinarians, and ensure safe, compassionate care while coordinating daily workflows to maximize patient outcomes and staff performance.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of veterinary science technology (2 or 4 year program) or the equivalent as determined by the NYS Education Department.
• Minimum five years experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician in small animal medicine and surgery; shelter medicine/high-volume spay-neuter experience preferred.
• Must have current New York State Veterinary Technician License.
• Minimum two years people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform broad range of veterinary technician functions including venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, surgical prep and assistance, diagnostics, pharmacy and patient recovery.
• Support HQHVSN and PPC for cats and dogs; work with staff veterinarians, technicians and assistants.
• Use low-stress handling to ensure safety and welfare for animals, staff and clients.
• Communicate with clients in a kind, nonjudgmental manner; obtain history and assist with discharge.
• Oversee clinic floor workflow; ensure efficient use of staff time and skills to maximize daily patient care.
• Lead and support nursing staff; provide feedback, coaching and onboarding for new team members.
• Ensure compliance with DEA regulations and CM protocols for controlled drugs; monitor drug logs.
