Job summary

The King William County Library System seeks an experienced Library Associate 3 to lead in programming and circulation support. This senior role may supervise Junior Library Associates and collaborates with librarians on programs and patron services.

Responsibilities include customer service, materials processing, volunteer coordination, and enforcing library policies, with attention to privacy and rights statements. 40-hour work week, on-site in California context.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three years library experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency with library systems and databases.
• Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
• Multilingual speaking is a plus.
• MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) desired.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work a schedule including days, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons and provide customer service at the circulation desk.
• Supervise Junior Library Associates including performance management and hiring.
• Collaborate with Librarians to plan, implement and promote programs.
• Coordinate programming activities.
• Process new materials including labeling and covers.
• Inform patrons of rules of conduct and enforce them.
• Maintain circulation records and mail materials to homebound patrons.
• Process damaged materials to maintain collection quality.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Support reference desk with patron inquiries.
• Coordinate volunteers and provide training.
• Uphold the Library Bill of Rights and related policies.
