Job summary

Core Specialty is seeking an experienced claims professional to manage Commercial Garage and General Liability claims from receipt through resolution or appeal. The role includes early insured contact, coverage analysis, and coordination with underwriting and defense counsel.

You will oversee defense strategy, monitor budgets, and assist with settlements while ensuring regulatory compliance and timely reporting. Travel may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Insurance adjuster license is required.
• College degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum five years’ experience handling Commercial Garage and/or General Liability claims.
• Ability to travel.
• Ability to negotiate and be persuasive.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong time-management skills; time-sensitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Handle Commercial Garage and General Liability claims from receipt to resolution or trial/appeal.
• Provide early contact with insured to identify witnesses, documents, and knowledge of allegations.
• Analyse coverage and prepare coverage position letters with appropriate reservations or tenders.
• Coordinate with underwriting on insured risk and policy language.
• Maintain diaries and monitor defense counsel from start to finish.
• Attend mediations and settlement conferences as required to facilitate settlements.
• Review and approve litigation budgets and monitor expenses.
• Prepare settlement drafts and review releases for accuracy.
