Job summary

BitGo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve its ledger systems supporting client balances, trading positions, and financial reporting. You will design double-entry ledger primitives and ensure financial correctness from day one.

The role sits onsite in Palo Alto and requires accounting knowledge, distributed systems expertise, and collaboration with Finance, Data Engineering, and Product teams.

Qualifications

• Real, working knowledge of accounting fundamentals: double-entry bookkeeping and financial statements.
• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with data-model design focus.
• Strong instincts for extensible system design and scalable schemas/APIs.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with Finance, Data Eng, and Product.

Responsibilities

• Design and extend core ledger: accounts, postings, and ledger structures.
• Own chart-of-accounts and reporting surface for financial statements.
• Balance verification, reconciliation, and proof-of-reserve style mechanisms across on-chain/off-chain data.
• Collaborate with engineering teams early in design to model ownership, ledger placement, and pricing.
• Design data models to absorb new financial products with minimal migrations.
