Job summary

The NYC Department for the Aging seeks an Assistant Commissioner, Program Performance and Accountability, to strengthen effectiveness, transparency, and innovation across programs serving older New Yorkers. You will lead internal program leaders and frontline staff, guiding data-driven redesigns and high-impact projects.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, you will supervise staff, build training programs, manage partnerships, and drive performance improvements for a citywide aging services

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree and five (5) years of full-time, professional experience in social services, public administration or management, with at least 1.5 years in an administrative or managerial capacity.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, coach and mentor staff, interns and volunteers to achieve performance levels.
• Oversee teams/consultants for training, coaching, and peer learning events.
• Develop or revise resource materials and guidance for program staff and providers.
• Use performance data and evaluation reports to guide program design and improvements.
• Lead projects to address service gaps in partnership with program bureaus.
• Ensure fidelity of site visits, assessments, records reviews and budgets.
• Standardize oversight practices through policies and monitoring tools.
• Evaluate and enhance capacity-building services.
• Build partnerships with NYC Aging teams responsible for quality, planning, data, compliance and IT.
• Lead special initiatives that advance the agency's mission.
