Job summary

Hoosier Energy seeks a lead commercial originator for large load power supply, procurement, and transaction efforts to support strategic customer growth opportunities. This role coordinates between the interdepartmental large load team and power supply to ensure customer requirements are evaluated, communicated, and incorporated into portfolio planning, procurement strategies, and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, data science, energy management, or a related field minimum.
• 7 years of progressively responsible experience in utility commercial transactions, power marketing, energy procurement, resource origination, business development, generation development, or a related field.
• Experience negotiating commercial agreements and structured energy or capacity transactions.
• Experience with MISO, resource adequacy, large-load or data-center development, generation development, power purchase agreements, or capacity-market transactions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary power supply portfolio representative for data centers, large commercial and industrial loads, industrial expansions, and economic development projects.
• Evaluates capacity, energy, resource adequacy, and portfolio impacts of prospective large-load opportunities.
• Supports negotiations with customers, developers, member systems, and other stakeholders regarding resource commitments and commercial terms.
• Develops innovative commercial structures balancing customer needs, reliability, risk management, and portfolio economics.
• Provides ongoing strategic support by identifying resource options, evaluating market alternatives, risk assessments, and communicating portfolio implications.
• Coordinates large load capacity committee(s), timeline risk identification, ISO coordination, and portfolio sufficiency monitoring.
• Identifies, evaluates, and originates strategic resource opportunities supporting Hoosier Energy’s objectives.
• Develops industry relationships to identify opportunities and advance commercial transactions.
• Major role in transaction development: commercial structuring, negotiations, due diligence, contract execution, risk assessment.
• Monitors market developments, technologies, and industry trends affecting portfolio.
