Job summary

Hoosier Energy seeks a senior commercial originator to lead large-load power supply, procurement, and transaction efforts. You will coordinate with the interdepartmental large-load team and power supply to align customer requirements with portfolio planning and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities include identifying strategic opportunities, negotiating commercial terms, and developing innovative structures balancing customer needs with portfolio economics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in utility commercial transactions or related fields.
• Experience negotiating commercial agreements and structured energy or capacity transactions.
• Knowledge of wholesale energy markets, resource adequacy, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Lead as the primary portfolio representative for large-load opportunities (data centers, large commercial/industrial loads).
• Evaluate capacity, energy, and portfolio impacts of prospective large-load opportunities.
• Negotiate terms with customers, developers, member systems, and stakeholders.
• Develop commercial structures balancing customer needs, system reliability, risk management, and portfolio economics.
• Provide strategic support to identify resource options, assess risks, and communicate portfolio implications.
• Coordinate large-load capacity committees, ISO coordination, and portfolio sufficiency monitoring.
• Identify, evaluate, and originate strategic resource opportunities.
• Develop and maintain industry relationships to identify opportunities.
• Lead transaction development activities including structuring, negotiations, due diligence, and risk assessment.
• Monitor market developments and industry trends.
