Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior engineer to design and implement the power and signal distribution system for vehicle programs. You will lead a team of engineers, collaborate across interiors, body, chassis, validation, and manufacturing, and interface with teams around the world.

Responsibilities include overseeing prototype rework, release of deliverables, and ensuring electrical releases are integrated into vehicle architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• Minimum 7 years of professional engineering experience
• Minimum 5 years in Power Signal or Wire harness packaging
• Understanding of engineering theory and mechanisms

• Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle

Job description

• Design and implement the entire power and signal distribution system for vehicle programs


• Oversee design rework, ICDe integration, and release of prototype deliverables


• Create prototype rework documentation and 2D stick drawings


• Interface with colleagues around the world and lead a team of engineers


• Work with vehicle program teams and Product Development engineering groups, including interiors and body/white, chassis, validation, program, purchasing, marketing, and manufacturing


• Provide program-specific requirements for sourcing processes


• Provide technical background in PSDS supplier technical reviews


• Create initial harness parts lists and complexity studies


• Maintain program requirements, timing, issues, plans, and change details


• Manage supplier efforts within the engineering factory


• Identify and schedule training needs with EGM approval


• Participate in interface tradeoffs and resolve integration issues


• Manage cost, quality, mass, content, and program changes for the power and signal distribution system


• Support pre-production physical and virtual build events


• Ensure wiring system design, development, and electrical release are integrated into vehicle architecture


• Conduct Product Development Team meetings and ensure deliverables and timing are met


• Lead benchmarking analysis, peer reviews, and wire harness assessment reviews


• Provide assembly plant launch and remediation support


• Generate technical solutions for current, new, and major programs


• Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development


• Perform complex design analysis and develop engineering designs, including subsystems


• Implement engineering changes


• Specify and balance system requirements


• Plan and implement test and development programs


• Release parts and subsystems for production


• Communicate, coordinate, and consult with engineering departments and customers


• Stay current with new technology and competitive products


• Travel as required


• Interface between TS and DRE on design direction


• Direct and facilitate assigned team members to appropriate experts


• Provide complexity reduction ideas through direct interface with marketing


• Lead discussions with program teams on design and execution

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry or Physics


• Minimum of 7 years of professional engineering experience


• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in Power Signal or Wire harness packaging


• Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms


• Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area


• High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex


• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and effectively with others


• Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area


• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis


• Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review


• Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future


• Master’s degree preferred


• Experience leading a Release Execution Team preferred


• Program Management skills preferred
