Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Electrical Wiring System Engineer in Palo Alto, CA, to drive harness design from concept to production across zonal power and data distribution. You will architect diverse voltage platforms, lead wire sizing, fuse coordination, and terminal selection for robust automotive harnesses.

The role requires deep knowledge of signal integrity, shielding for ADAS sensors, Automotive Ethernet, and DFMEA/DFSI in a mass‑production context.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
5+ years in EDS design and development within automotive, aerospace, or complex robotics.
5+ years hands‑on with EDS ECAD tooling such as Mentor Capital, Zuken E3, or Vector Preevision.
Proven mass-production experience from concept to launch (Job 1).
Deep understanding of Ohm’s Law, voltage drop, thermal management, and circuit protection.
Experience with High Voltage DC power distribution and diverse voltage architectures.
Familiarity with high-speed data requirements: shielding, twisting, and Automotive Ethernet/LVDS.
Experience with data loggers, current clamps, oscilloscopes in a lab/test environment.
Familiarity with Confluence and Jira.
Ability to manage high-variant harness architectures and feature-to-pin mapping.
Experience performing DFM and DFMEA.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Drive electrical wiring system design from concept to production, focusing on Zonal power and data distribution.
Architect and integrate diverse voltage platforms, leading wire sizing, fuse coordination, and terminal selection.
Design for signal integrity across the vehicle data backbone, including shielded circuits for ADAS sensors and Automotive Ethernet.
Partner with subsystem engineers on harness partitioning and complexity strategies to minimize wire count, cost, and weight.
Influence grounding and network topologies and collaborate on ISO 26262 Functional Safety assessments.
Develop logical and physical electrical schematics using professional ECAD tools.
Own technical resolution of integration issues.
Lead electrical bring-up, circuit troubleshooting, and validation during lab-car and prototype vehicle builds.
Review 2D drawings and 3D routing for supplier readiness.
Investigate new harness technologies such as busbars and automated manufacturing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure harness architecture is efficient, manufacturable, and robust.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in EDS design and development within the automotive, aerospace, or complex robotics industries
5+ years of hands‑on experience with professional EDS ECAD tooling, such as Mentor Capital, Zuken E3, or Vector Preevision
Proven experience in a mass‑production environment, taking a product from initial concept through Job 1/launch
Deep understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including Ohm’s Law, voltage drop, thermal management, and circuit protection
Experience with High Voltage DC power distribution and diverse voltage architectures
Familiarity with high-speed data requirements, including shielding, twisting, and connector selection for Automotive Ethernet or LVDS
Experience with vehicle instrumentation, including data loggers, current clamps, and oscilloscopes, in a controlled lab or test‑track environment
Familiarity with Confluence and Jira
Ability to manage high‑variant harness architectures and feature‑to‑pin mapping
Experience performing DFM and DFMEA
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
