- Design, develop and maintain electrical control systems and/or components to required specifications
- Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
- Conduct general engineering and design of electronic systems on small unmanned aircraft vehicles
- Perform detailed design, documentation and testing of electronic and mechanical components, equipment and subsystems
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment
- Perform electronic engineering support activities on R&D projects
- Coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations for conformance to design, equipment and safety standards
- Work with avionics, embedded systems and Radio Frequency links; support Flight Test operations as needed
- Troubleshoot complex systems and document designs with engineering drawings and written descriptions
- Perform design and analysis tasks and contribute to budgets and cost estimates
- Assess root causes, research and re-engineer alternate solutions, and contribute to product sustainability and reliability
- Make complex design decisions and decisions affecting project costs and schedules
- Provide technical supervision across disciplines and lead a small team or project
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience
- Proficient with office software, computer-based productivity tools and other software tools in one's area of expertise
- Experienced using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
- Experienced in one or more areas: Radio Frequency (RF), embedded control, FPGA
- Experienced with power electronics, including motors and Battery Technology (lead acid, Nickel metal hybrid & Lithium ion)
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems
- Demonstrated familiarity of common industry protocols (LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB)
- Knowledge of Engineering fundamentals, mathematics, physics & material properties
- Some travel may be required in support of flight test operations (up to 30%)
- Must have a clean driving record
- ITAR/EAR compliance eligibility as a U.S. person or ability to obtain an export license
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be willing to work on government contracts and have the ability to obtain a security clearance
