GM is seeking a seasoned Mechatronics Engineer to support the design, development, and release of requirements and hardware for vehicle sensing, access, chassis, propulsion, and electronics. The role emphasizes component release strategies aligned with Vehicle Intelligence Platform roadmaps and software-defined vehicle initiatives.
The position involves leading DFMEA efforts, creating interface control documentation, and coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to meet MRD dates and
Support design, development, and release of requirements, hardware, and validation for mechatronics devices across vehicle sensing, vehicle access, chassis, propulsion, and electronic device hardware
Implement component release strategies supporting the GM Vehicle Intelligence Platform and Software Defined Vehicle product roadmaps
Oversee design and validation for mechatronics hardware calibrations and application software
Run Product Development Team meetings to coordinate component/system development and vehicle integration
Support DFMEA development and updates
Create and maintain Interface Control Document strategy and templates
Author Engineering Work Orders to release components for prototype and production vehicles
Prepare timing plans to meet program requirements and MRD dates
Troubleshoot component- and vehicle-level issues using Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS-Jira)
Generate and maintain Component Technical Specifications for mechatronic devices
Update Best Practices, GM Specifications, Statements of Requirements, and templates based on learnings
Coordinate cross-functionally within GM and with multiple suppliers
Lead/manage supplier resident engineers
Support sourcing activities, including SOR, RFI, and SODW creation
Generate technical solutions for new vehicle programs
Perform complex design analysis
Initiate engineering-authority documents and maintain math/CAD data
Work with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel, and others on cost reduction, methods, product improvements, and build programs
Demonstrates expertise in mechatronics hardware design, development, and validation, with a strong focus on component release strategies and cross-functional collaboration. Proficient in DFMEA processes, technical specification generation, and problem resolution within automotive environments.
