Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Allen Park, MI seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer for high-performance vehicle programs. You will design and develop Ford Performance electrical content and coordinate technical design reviews between component and EDS engineers.

You will build DV requirements, validate system performance, support BOM sign-offs, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver wiring solutions for race and performance cars. Onsite builds and supplier leadership are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required; Master preferred.
  • 5+ years in automotive electrical systems.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not offered.
  • Experience launching new vehicles and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; project management skills.

Job description

  • Design and develop Ford Performance-specific electrical content
  • Coordinate technical design reviews between component and EDS engineers
  • Survey engineers for components with electrical interfaces and populate device transmittals into VSEM for EDS wiring development
  • Build DV requirements for system-level electrical functions and perform validation testing
  • Support BOM sign-offs for pre-production build events
  • Represent the electrical team on evaluation drives
  • Root-cause and fix electrical issues on vehicles
  • Support offsite vehicle-level DV testing
  • Configure, update, and root-cause electrical modules and systems during breadboard activities
  • Provide onsite support for vehicle builds at the assembly plant
  • Lead full-service suppliers and other internal/external resources
  • Lead system designs supporting vehicle performance targets
  • Assure conformance to Ford Racing DNA and applicable Ford and regulatory requirements
  • Develop innovative solutions for performance vehicles
  • Support supplier sourcing processes and FMA activities
  • Handle program and engineering GPDS deliverables
Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Master degree preferred
  • 5+ years experience in automotive electrical systems
  • Understanding of GPDS deliverables and Ford engineering tools, including FEDE BOM, WERS, Bill of Material, AIMS, JIRA, 5/8Ds, FEDE DVP, Engineering Sign Off, DFMEA, and Six Sigma
  • Experience launching new vehicles
  • Ability to handle complex tasks and complicated situations under compressed timing
  • Planning, organizational, and project management skills with accurate follow-up
  • Strong One Ford Leadership Behaviors with proven ability to drive and deliver results
  • Effective written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to build relationships with multi-functional teams
  • Experience with CAN tools, module software flashing, CAN network troubleshooting, bus queries, CAN logs and data collection, Diagnostic Engineering Tool, MyCanic, Data Logger, and vehicle configuration (VSCS)
  • Hands-on experience with CAN bus tools beyond basic troubleshooting and ability to independently debug intermittent network faults
  • Prior experience with VSEM or similar electrical device transmittal/vehicle systems engineering management tools
  • Background in high-performance or motorsport vehicle programs is advantageous
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
