Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior Lead Network Engineer to join a team delivering a large-scale wired and wireless network project for state and local government partners. You will evaluate existing networks, design new infrastructure, and oversee testing, security patches, and deployments.

The role involves collaboration with government personnel, stakeholders and vendors, with a focus on documentation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, Business, IS or related field.
• Strong documentation skills incl. updating JIRA Tickets, Wiki Pages and Network Diagrams
• Ability to communicate with end users, cross-organizational staff and help desk
• CWNA or equivalent certification
• BCNE or equivalent certification
• Experience using RF site survey tools (Ekahau, RF Scanners, Wireshark)
• Knowledge of layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing; VLANs, 802.1w, OSPF, VRRP
• Knowledge of network security: 802.1x, MAC Auth, ACLs, RADIUS, CA
• Linux/ MS Server 2013, VMware knowledge
• Master’s degree in Engineering/CS/IS or related field
• 3+ years in disaster recovery planning or testing
• Experience with penetration testing and vulnerability assessment
• Experience with cyber threat information collection/analysis
• Agile/SCUM project management
• Other industry certificates/licenses

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage NPS network infrastructure
• Improve infrastructure monitoring and reporting via network management software
• Develop, maintain and deliver infrastructure documentation for NPS network
• Review best practices; advise on architecture, design, management and operation
• Administer Cloudpath onboarding; monitor wireless health; apply patches/updates
• Assess NPS network; recommend improvements and optimization
• Define and run testing procedures for new infrastructure projects
• Implement technology solutions within NPS network environment
• Provide design guidance on network solutions for NPS projects
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to NPS staff on best practices
