Job summary

CRB is seeking a Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer to design and supervise HVAC systems and mechanical utilities for buildings. You will manage the discipline scope, budgets, and staff across projects, coordinating with PMs and external partners to deliver high-quality design and construction documentation.

The role requires 15+ years in mechanical engineering, expertise in codes and standards, and strong leadership for complex projects across phases from concept to construction administration.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus).
• Minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior Lead position.
• Expert experience with engineering calculations and HVAC/mechanical utility and piping designs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Advanced experience with mechanical/plumbing/fire/building codes and industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA).
• Advanced experience leading field surveys of existing conditions and supporting field reporting.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals.
• Coordinates with internal and external parties, manages multiple complex tasks, establishes priorities and directs the work of others.
• Works with a Project Manager on proposal development, design task identification, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on advanced level projects.
• Identifies and resolves advanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
• Develops advanced internal mechanical design and engineering training presentations.
• Develops narratives, reports and construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight.
• Provides lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.
• Conducts technical and leadership interviews.
• Conducts quality checking of documents for advanced complex projects (e.g., verification of design calculations) and drives overall project quality.
• Provides mentorship to less experienced Mechanical Engineers and/or Designers.
• Leads advanced project system design programming and master planning with minimal or no support from Senior Engineer.
• Leads a team of mechanical staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineering.
• Provides oversight and technical leadership to other offices and related functions such as Business Development, Technical Advancement and Vertical Markets.
