Job summary

CRB is seeking a Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer to design and manage HVAC and mechanical utility systems for buildings. You will oversee discipline scope, budgets, and senior staff across projects, coordinating with internal and external partners to deliver high-quality designs and documentation.

The role requires deep expertise in HVAC, piping, and building codes, and leadership across project phases from studies to construction. Strong communication and project management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus).
• Minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior Lead position.
• Expert experience performing engineering calculations and developing HVAC, mechanical utility and piping designs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced experience applying mechanical, plumbing, fire, building codes.
• Advanced experience applying standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA).
• Advanced experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and supporting field reporting.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages the workflows and execution of design and engineering staff from Entry-Level to Senior to meet client expectations and project goals.
• Coordinates with internal and external parties, manages multiple tasks, establishes priorities and directs the work of others.
• Works with a Project Manager on proposal development, design task identification, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work.
• Identifies and resolves advanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and field surveys.
• Develops advanced internal mechanical design and engineering training presentations.
• Develops narratives, reports and construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on advanced projects.
• Provides lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports.
