Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Senior Lead Project & Design Manager to guide the Project Management and Facilities Production team through preconstruction, design, procurement, execution and closeout for Rivian's global production facilities.

You will lead external design partners, manage budgets up to $300k DOA, and ensure schedule, quality and safety across multi-discipline engineering efforts. This role demands strong communication and financial stewardship in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture or Engineering with 10-15 years of design management, engineering, architecture and construction experience.
• Expertise in advanced project management processes, construction documentation, and financial controls.
• Experience with VDC, CAD environments, and cross-functional workflows.
• Master’s degree and CCM/licensed professional certification preferred.
• Experience delivering large-scale capital delivery projects.

Responsibilities

• Design & Programming Leadership: liaison with external design partners and translate end-user needs into space programs.
• Engineering Oversight: coordinate disciplines and support machinery and future flexibility.
• Financial & Legal Stewardship: manage P&L, COGS, BOM, DOA and vendor/contract terms.
• Project Controls & Risk Management: identify and mitigate risks using P6, EVM, VDC tools.
• Construction & Quality Execution: provide design support through construction and resolve field issues.
• Exceptional Communication: maintain clear communication with executives and shop floor staff.
