Job summary

New York Life Insurance Co. is seeking a Senior/Lead Engineer for DevOps and Integrations within the TDAV group in New York.

You will architect and deliver enterprise integrations across corporate systems, cloud services, and external vendors, with a strong emphasis on API design, security, and AI-assisted workflows. The role combines hands-on coding (about 10–20%), solution architecture, and technical leadership, with a focus on Java back-end development, Spring Boot, REST, Maven, and AWS

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or integration engineering experience.
• Strong Java backend development with Spring Boot, REST, and Maven.
• Ability to independently develop, review, debug and troubleshoot production apps.
• Experience defining solution architecture and leading enterprise integrations.
• Strong AWS architecture and engineering knowledge.
• Strong API and REST integration experience.
• Strong DevOps and CI/CD experience.
• Experience with authentication and secure integration patterns (OAuth2, SAML, JWT, mTLS).
• Experience with certificates lifecycle management and TLS/networking basics.
• Proven troubleshooting, communication skills, and mentoring ability.
• Proficiency with AI coding agents and AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and technical solutions for integrations across systems, AWS, SaaS, and vendors.
• Provide technical leadership through design, dev, testing, deployment and support.
• Develop, review, and troubleshoot Java back-end apps using Spring Boot, REST, and Maven.
• Design and troubleshoot AWS solutions using API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, ECS, S3, and IAM.
• Lead API and enterprise integration design including auth, connectivity and data flows.
• Coordinate readiness and migration activities; communicate changes to teams.
• Maintain MuleSoft knowledge for API proxy layer and troubleshooting.
• Support Salesforce integrations from API and connectivity perspectives.
• Work with SSO and security teams; knowledge of OAuth2, SAML, JWT, mTLS.
• Own certificate lifecycle management and secure connectivity practices.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership; willingness to lead when needed.
