Job summary

New York Life in New York is seeking a Senior/Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership across enterprise integrations, DevOps, cloud platforms, APIs, and backend applications.

Approximately 10–20% hands-on coding, with AI-assisted engineering as core. You’ll design and implement integrations and backends using Java/Spring Boot and AWS, while mentoring engineers in a dynamic mutual company environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, integration engineering, or related experience.
• Strong Java backend development experience with Spring Boot, REST, and Maven.
• Experience defining solution architecture and leading enterprise integrations.
• Strong AWS architecture and engineering knowledge.
• Strong API and REST integration experience.
• Strong DevOps and CI/CD experience.
• Experience with authentication and secure integration patterns including OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT, and mTLS.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and technical solutions for integrations between corporate systems, AWS services, SaaS platforms, and external vendors.
• Provide technical leadership through design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop, review, and troubleshoot Java backend applications using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Maven.
• Design and troubleshoot AWS solutions using API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, ECS, S3, ALB/NLB, Route 53, IAM, Secrets Manager, and ACM.
• Lead API and enterprise integration design, including authentication, connectivity, data flows, error handling, and operational considerations.
