Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a lead field property claims professional in Washington to investigate and settle complex homeowner claims. You will work in the field, perform on-site inspections, negotiate with insureds and lawyers, and mentor junior adjusters in a high-exposure environment.

You must have 5+ years in field property claims, advanced Xactimate skills, and valid state licensing. Expect significant travel and occasional office visits as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field property claims experience.
• Experience handling high exposure claims.
• Experience handling 1st and 3rd party claims across multiple policy types.
• Strong knowledge of policy provisions and endorsements.
• Ability to mentor less experienced adjusters.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of high exposure claims and checks prior claims.
• Participates in HDR to address coverage issues and exposure.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, and negotiates with insureds/attorneys.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files as needed.
• Interprets coverages and applies them to assigned losses; communicates status clearly.
• Mentors less experienced adjusters and shares expertise.
• May take on additional assignments or projects.
