Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a lead-level field property claims adjuster for our Oregon operations. The role involves investigating complex homeowner claims, determining liability, arranging appraisals and negotiating settlements in the field.

A valid driver’s license and state licensing are required, with travel up to 50% and catastrophe travel up to 75% as applicable. We offer relocation support for eligible candidates, and the position reports to a Large Loss Senior Manager.

Qualifications

• Advanced Xactimate experience required.
• 5+ years' experience handling field property personal lines claims.
• Prefer someone who has handled claims over $50,000.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of high exposure claims and coordinates with insureds, claimants, agents and others.
• Participates in High Damage Reviews to address coverage and exposure issues.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages and negotiates with insureds and attorneys.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions and closes files as needed.
• Interprets policies and endorsements and applies them to losses.
