Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a language services leader in the Charlotte central area to oversee interpretation and translation programs for patients, families, and healthcare providers. The role focuses on directing staff, ensuring compliance, and coordinating with hospital leadership across Advocate Health facilities in the region.

The position requires 5 years of medical interpretation experience, plus 1 year of supervisory experience, a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Admin or Nursing, and

Qualifications

• Professional command of bilingual medical terminology, including anatomy and physiology.
• Knowledge of ethics of medical interpreting per NCIHC guidelines.
• Ability to oversee interpreters delivering tough messages, including death and dying.
• Excellent human relations and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and video interpreting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and accountability for system-wide translation and interpretation systems.
• Leads strategic planning for language services across the health system.
• Maintains quality monitoring and improvement initiatives for translation services.
• Builds strong relationships with management, staff and medical teams to support LEP and deaf/hard-of-hearing patients.
• Offers staff training and development; oversees staffing and performance management.
• Participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigation as part of duties.
