Job summary

Alexander Associates Technical Recruitment represents an established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy seeking a Land Development Project Manager in its Richmond operation. The role focuses on leading public and private land and site development projects across the Richmond metro area and Central Virginia.

You will coordinate scope, budgets, schedules, and plans, mentor staff, engage clients, and liaise with authorities to secure approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license, with Virginia PE preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive Land/Site Development experience.
• Experience delivering public and private development projects.
• Experience managing staff, budgets and client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of Virginia permitting and approval processes.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with stormwater, grading, erosion control and utility design.
• Knowledge of Hydraflow or HydroCAD preferred.
• Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage Land and Site Development projects from planning through construction.
• Prepare and monitor project scope, budgets, schedules and technical deliverables.
• Lead the preparation and approval of site development plans.
• Provide technical direction to civil engineers and designers.
• Coordinate internal staff and external subconsultants.
• Serve as primary client contact throughout project delivery.
• Lead client meetings, presentations, and plan-approval discussions.
• Review and certify engineering documents.
• Coordinate permitting with authorities and reviewing agencies.
• Prepare project proposals and additional-service agreements.
• Mentor staff and support development of the local engineering team.
