Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager – Land Accounting in Plano, TX to lead accounting and financial reporting for land development operations. This role oversees month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvements while mentoring Staff and Senior Accountants.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of accounting leadership experience within homebuilding or real estate, with strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's and CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in homebuilding, land development, or real estate accounting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency with strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for land development entities.
• Oversee financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and budget-to-actual analyses.
• Manage accounting for land acquisitions, development costs, lot inventory, joint ventures, and land transactions.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and internal accounting policies.
• Partner with land acquisition, development, finance, and operational teams to provide financial guidance on development projects.
• Drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and standardize accounting practices.
• Mentor, develop, and lead Staff and Senior Accountants.
