Job summary

Workday, Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to own the architecture of Workday’s lakehouse-based data-product platform. You will design end-to-end support for data products and marts, including modeling, orchestration, catalogs, and secure access, while writing high-performance analytical SQL.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive performance improvements, and shape how teams use the platform with reusable patterns and data-quality frameworks, within a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of software development experience.
• 6+ years designing and operating distributed architectures with high availability.
• 8+ years with at least two of Java, Python, Go.
• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and architecture for the data-product platform (lakehouse).
• Design end-to-end platform including modeling (dbt), orchestration, catalog, security, and IaC.
• Mentor senior engineers and align multiple teams to platform direction.
• Lead HA/DR, security, and cost-aware scalability of platform services.
• Define patterns for reusable dbt models, data-quality checks, and visualization integration.
