Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Labor Relations Consultant in Los Angeles to provide leadership and expert guidance on UC Policy and contract interpretation. You will act as the senior resource for labor relations, participate in bargaining, and communicate changes to managers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in employment related matters and unionized environments.
• Advanced knowledge of public sector laws/requirements; healthcare industry, higher education preferred
• Advanced knowledge of labor/employment law and the principles and techniques of labor negotiations
• Ability to analyze and draft proposals for negotiations, settlements, other employment agreements
• Skill in writing concise, clear, relevant and persuasive documents, including correspondence, case analyses, settlement agreements
• Demonstrated presentation skills, i.e., grievance meetings, trainings, panels
• Advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; understands how work impacts other HR areas

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, guidance, interpretation and training to managers and supervisors on UC Policy and contract interpretation.
• Serve as senior resource for labor relations and contract interpretation.
• Actively participate in local and system-wide bargaining, drafting/reviewing/modifying proposals, and communicating changes to stakeholders.
• Coordinate and direct grievance process to ensure compliance with contract provisions.
• Liaise with union representatives and resolve issues at the lowest level possible
