Job summary

UC Irvine seeks a Workforce Relations Consultant to provide expert employee and labor relations support to managers across Human Resources. You will serve as the SME for staff collective bargaining agreements and represent the University in grievances, arbitrations, and related proceedings.

The role involves settlement discussions and coordination with HR, Counsel, and risk management. A Bachelor's degree and 7–10 years of labor relations experience are required, with preferred JD.

Qualifications

• Expert analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations.
• Expert knowledge of systemwide, campus and / or medical center policies and procedures.
• Expert knowledge of labor relations function and other HR subject areas.
• Knowledge of legal requirements to minimize exposure.
• Ability to develop and administer organization-wide HR policies and processes.
• Expert negotiation skills for complex issues with significant costs to the university.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert level employee and labor relations support to managers and supervisors.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for staff collective bargaining agreements.
• Represent the University’s interests in grievances, arbitrations, and related matters.
• Lead negotiations for local agreements and meet-and-confer sessions.
• Prepare written analyses, recommendations, and university responses.
