Job summary

Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud and is hiring a senior leader to own the Kubernetes control plane end to end. You will manage the team, guide architecture decisions, and ensure the platform scales from today’s footprint to a multi-gigawatt deployment.

You will balance hands-on coding with leadership, focusing on reliability, scheduling, and provisioning within in-house infrastructure. Collaboration with product and design is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of real people leadership.
• Shipped production systems in Go.
• You have run Kubernetes in anger and possibly built parts of it.
• Experience with GPU workloads on Kubernetes is a plus.
• Extensive experience building backend or infrastructure systems.
• Ability to partner with product, design and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship the control plane. Build with your team and own architecture decisions.
• Grow engineers, remove obstacles, coach them to deliver surprising work.
• Own reliability of the Kubernetes control plane and respond to incidents.
• Shrink the distance from metal to on-demand with automated provisioning.
• Partner with Product Managers to set priorities and tradeoffs.
• Own people management for the team: hiring, performance, growth paths.
• Define the team’s processes and execution rituals as it grows.
