Job summary

Mistral is seeking a senior backend/infrastructure leader to guide the isolation layer and security boundary for AI workloads. You will balance architecture work with people leadership, shaping the team building thousands of sandboxed environments at scale.

Shipped production Go systems, deep Linux internals, and cross-functional collaboration are essential as you mentor engineers and partner with product teams to deliver robust, secure primitives for frontier AI software.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of people leadership experience managing engineers.
• Shipped production systems in Go.
• Deep Linux internals and virtualization (Firecracker-like).
• Experience with network isolation at packet level.
• 8+ years building backend or infrastructure systems.
• Collaborates with product, design and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Build the isolation layer: microVMs or containers, namespaces, cgroups, seccomp, snapshot and restore.
• Own the security boundary. Systems ensure safety for customer code.
• Scale to fleets: manage creation latency, density, and lifecycle for thousands of environments.
• Write Go and own architecture and difficult implementation decisions.
• Grow engineers and set a standard for ownership and coaching.
• Own people management: hiring, performance, growth paths, honest feedback.
• Partner with Product Managers to translate frontier research into primitives.
