Job summary

Serco is seeking a Principal Military Trainer - Senior Operations Exercise Planner to support the Joint Staff J-7 in Suffolk, VA. You will plan and execute joint and combined military exercises, deliver key exercise products, and collaborate with high-level military and civilian leaders to enhance operational readiness.

The role requires a DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI, 8+ years of joint ops or 6+ with a Master’s, and willingness to travel up to 25% while being on-site in

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI.
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of joint operational experience, or Master’s with 6 years.
• Minimum of 3 years on a 3-star or 4-star Joint or Service HQ staff or civilian equivalent.
• Knowledge of deploying and employing joint forces with national power.
• Understanding of operational-level joint operations planning and execution.
• Familiarity with JELC, UJTL, and MSEL processes.
• Intermediate Service School graduate.
• Current or able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport.
• On-site work in Suffolk, VA and travel up to 25%.
• Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a functional expert for planning, conceptualizing, and preparing joint and combined military exercises.
• Provide consulting to defense clients in development and evaluation of training and joint doctrine.
• Design and plan military exercises with stakeholders.
• Deliver exercise products (Scenario, RTC, CONOPs, OE Overview).
• Coordinate and adjust suspense dates based on development needs.
• Participate in Global Integration initiatives and attend planning conferences and reviews.
• Serve as a syndicate cell member during execution of joint training events globally.
