Job summary

PayJunction is seeking a Software Architect to design and build enterprise features and payment integrations powering billions in annual transactions. You will translate open-ended problems into production-grade Java code while shaping system architecture.

You’ll stay hands-on—writing production Java each sprint, reviewing PRs, and guiding a test strategy for high-risk payment paths—while ensuring reliability, PCI scope reduction, and scalable observability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering.
• 5+ years of Java development, with web frameworks and JVM.
• Production experience with AWS, Linux, MySQL, CI/CD, IaC, observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build enterprise features and payment integrations.
• Write design docs with requirements, trade-offs, and failure modes.
• Write production Java each sprint and review pull requests.
• Define SLOs, monitoring, and PCI scope reduction by design.
