Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an experienced Java backend engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy secure features and services in a large-scale Java ecosystem. You will translate business and security requirements into robust designs aligned with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.

Responsibilities include building REST APIs and microservices, applying secure coding practices, and delivering reliable, scalable solutions while leading technical reviews and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering large-scale Java applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Expertise in object-oriented design, design patterns, clean code, testing, and code quality.
• Experience with relational databases (SQL, Oracle) and performance tuning.
• Unix/Linux environments, containerized platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker).
• CI/CD and toolchains (Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible).
• Cloud services and cloud security principles; secure SDLC and CVE management.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of secure Java-based features and services.
• Translate requirements into robust designs aligned with architecture standards.
• Design and implement REST APIs and microservices using Java/Spring.
• Apply secure coding practices and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Deliver solutions meeting acceptance criteria while managing reliability and performance.
• Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, testing strategy, and release planning.
• Provide technical leadership for large/complex efforts and platform upgrades.
• Investigate production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
• Support controls, compliance, and audit requests for applications.
• Mentor engineers and identify risks with Technology Manager.
