Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Java Platform Engineer to lead a global check payment platform initiative. You will design microservices, drive distributed system architecture, and guide a scrum team to deliver high-availability financial processing capabilities.

You will shape data architecture across Oracle, MS SQL, and MongoDB, modernize legacy components to cloud-native services, and champion security and performance across the platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years software engineering experience with 5+ years in leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production-grade Java microservices for a high-volume platform.
• Architect event-driven, fault-tolerant distributed systems using Kafka, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Define and govern data architecture across Oracle, MS SQL, and MongoDB.
• Own the modernization roadmap, migrating legacy components to cloud-native microservices.
• Lead performance engineering to meet SLA targets for availability, throughput, and latency.
• Embed AI practices using tools like GitHub Copilot and LLMs to improve code quality and testing.
• Act as the primary engineering contact for the Check Processing pillar to stakeholders.
• Own security and compliance through threat modelling and secure design reviews.
