Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to architect and drive modernization of global payment processing platforms, handling vast transaction volumes across regions. You will define the engineering vision for resilient microservices and lead a team in delivering scalable, secure payment capabilities.

You will champion modern architectures, implement CI/CD, and guide the adoption of AI-powered tools and observability to improve delivery velocity and system intelligence across Citi's

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale applications with leadership experience.
• Expert-level Java and Spring Boot for production microservices.
• Front-end capability in Angular, HTML5, CSS3.
• Experience with resilience patterns and distributed transactions.
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with messaging platforms like Kafka/RabbitMQ and data stores like Oracle/MongoDB.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and modern DevOps practices for zero-downtime delivery.
• Experience adopting AI-powered development tools within an enterprise team.
• Experience establishing observability stacks with tracing, alerts, and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full software development lifecycle for mission-critical payment applications from architecture to deployment and production ownership.
• Design and build high-throughput, low-latency microservices powering global payment processing at scale.
• Architect multi-region failover strategies and zero-downtime release models to achieve 99.99%+ availability.
• Champion domain-driven design, event-driven architectures, and containerization to modernize platforms.
• Define API standards for RESTful and event-based interfaces with security and scalability in mind.
• Mentor a cross-functional engineering team and enforce high standards for quality and reliability.
• Incorporate AI-powered developer tools into production workflows to accelerate delivery and intelligence.
