Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Senior Java Full-Stack Developer to join the Chief Technology Office EI 3b in Austin. This on-site role focuses on designing, coding, testing, and integrating modern web applications, APIs, databases, and AI-enabled tooling in a complex enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with degree in computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of experience with Java.
• 5+ years experience with front end technologies like Angular, React, etc.
• Must have 3 years experience with cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Develops, enhances, and maintains modern full-stack web applications, reusable user interface components, services, and application features.
• Designs, develops, and maintains secure backend services, RESTful APIs, data access layers, and integration workflows.
• Designs and develops AI-enabled and agent-based application capabilities, including chat-based interfaces, workflow agents, tool/API-calling agents, and AI platform integrations.
• Evaluates application performance, troubleshoots issues, improves reliability, and supports secure coding practices across development and production environments.
• Prepares technical documentation, system diagrams, API specifications, and provides hands-on technical direction to team members.
