Job summary

Elastic seeks a Principal Software Engineer for the Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team to tackle scale, performance, and resilience in Serverless Elasticsearch. You will work on how nodes communicate, how data is indexed and managed across the cluster, and push shard and node capacity to new limits.

You will leverage deep distributed systems expertise to design and operate core components, improve indexing consistency, and maintain safety and liveness while data moves across nodes.

Qualifications

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and standard library data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Deep technical proficiency in algorithms.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems with multiple machines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core pieces of the Serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improve components that support concurrent indexing across machines.
• Maintain cluster coordination for performance as nodes join/leave and data moves.
