Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team. You will tackle deep distributed-systems challenges around node communication, indexing, and data management across servers in a Serverless Elasticsearch offering.

Responsibilities include building core components, maintaining high performance, and supporting across multiple machines while ensuring safety and liveness.

Qualifications

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong Java skills and knowledge of data structures.
• Experience with complex, highly distributed systems.
• Ability to own projects from design to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core pieces of our Serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improve components for concurrent and consistent indexing.
• Maintain cluster coordination for dynamic nodes and data movement.
• Push limits on shards, nodes, and petabytes handled.
• Investigate performance and concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Support engineers with challenging problems.
• Own end-to-end operational investigations.
