Elastic, the Search AI Company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team. You will tackle deep distributed-systems challenges around node communication, data indexing, and cluster management in our Serverless offering, with impact across customers worldwide.

You will design and implement scalable, high-performance components, advance shard/node scalability, and own complex debugging and optimization tasks.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core pieces of our next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering, directly impacting customer experience worldwide.
• Improve Elasticsearch components that support concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain cluster coordination to keep performance high as nodes join/leave and data moves, while ensuring safety and liveness of the system.
• Push the limits on the number of shards, nodes, and petabytes Elasticsearch can handle today.
• Investigate performance or concurrency issues and propose robust solutions.
• Support our engineers with harder problems and complex debugging tasks.
• Own end-to-end operational investigations until performance or stability issues are resolved.
