Job summary

FusionAuth is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to extend our Java platform. You will design and ship complex features across self-hosted and cloud deployments, applying protocol knowledge (OAuth 2.x, OpenID Connect, SAML) that customers rely on for secure implementations.

This is a senior IC role with code review, mentoring, and architectural input. You will collaborate with Product and Support to translate tradeoffs into actionable decisions, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of professional software development experience with ownership of features from design through release.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent theoretical background.
• Advanced Java skills including threading and performance profiling.
• Strong OO design and implementation skills.
• Solid web stack knowledge (HTTP, REST, TCP/IP).
• Deep relational database knowledge: indexing, queries, schema design beyond ORM.

Responsibilities

• Design and build complex features end-to-end with production-ready code.
• Author Technical Design Documents and provide architecture recommendations.
• Review code for correctness, test quality, and architectural fit.
• Design tests and write end-to-end tests for critical paths.
• Diagnose and fix multithreaded and concurrency issues; participate in on-call rotation.
• Understand deployment, databases, and NoSQL basics; ensure backward compatibility.
