Job summary

Charles Schwab’s Schwab Technology Services seeks an experienced Software Development Engineer to design, build, and enhance scalable applications handling large‑volume financial data. You will modernize collateral platforms with cloud‑ready architectures and microservices, while delivering reliable, secure services and reporting.

You will collaborate with engineers, architects and business SMEs to meet requirements, implement RESTful services, and embed quality throughout the SDLC using

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 4+ years of hands‑on Java development.
• Experience with full stack development using Java 17, Spring, Angular, REST, JSON/XML, SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Cloud technologies experience including cloud‑ready architecture; GCP/BigQuery preferred.
• Understanding AuthN/AuthZ, token-based and mTLS/SSL mechanisms.
• Experience integrating AI tools into development workflows.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and messaging (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• CI/CD pipelines using Bamboo, GitHub Actions or similar tools.
• Experience across the full SDLC with Agile or Scaled Agile.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance complex applications processing large‑volume financial data.
• Contribute to modernization of collateral platforms with microservice design and CI/CD automation.
• Provide downstream services and reporting to support collateral operations.
• Collaborate with Tech Leads, SMEs, and Product Owners to clarify requirements.
• Troubleshoot production and intra‑day processing issues with Production Support.
