Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Senior Software Development & Engineering Lead to drive modernization of the engineering ecosystem and support software engineers across the firm. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and supporting enterprise applications.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing APIs, distributed systems, integrations, or microservices architectures.
• Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or similar backend technologies.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages for Linux and/or Windows servers (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise application integrations and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with automation, CI/CD, source control, and DevOps practices.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support enterprise platforms, services, and integrations for software delivery.
• Lead modernization initiatives including cloud adoption and engineering platform evolution.
• Design scalable APIs and automation to improve developer productivity.
• Partner with product owners and engineers to define technical roadmaps.
• Drive best practices in software development, observability, security, reliability, and DevOps.
• Contribute hands-on development and troubleshooting across critical initiatives.
• Support production systems and perform resiliency improvements.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-assisted development capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and promote continuous learning across teams.
