Job summary

CI&T is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer with strong senior Java engineering experience and hands-on AI-assisted development tools in real software delivery environments. You will work directly with existing applications and teams to understand codebases, accelerate development, modernize legacy systems, and improve test coverage.

Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on Java app development, maintenance, refactoring, and modernization.
• 3+ months with Cursor for AI code generation in a team project, or 6+ months with comparable AI tools.
• Experience with AI-assisted workflows: reverse engineering and Spec‑Driven Development (SDD).
• Hands-on experience in AI-assisted test generation.
• Refactoring Java systems to remove or replace legacy dependencies.
• Ability to understand and navigate complex, unfamiliar codebases.
• Strong fundamentals: clean code, automated testing, version control, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with large, existing Java applications and enterprise codebases.
• Analyze and reverse-engineer systems to understand architecture and dependencies.
• Use AI-assisted tools for code generation, analysis, testing, and documentation.
