Job summary

Synechron is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in Charlotte, NC to design and deliver Java-based solutions and apply AI-assisted tools like Devin AI and Claude Code to accelerate delivery. You will work with customers, product teams, and engineers to translate complex requirements into scalable, secure applications, lead architecture reviews, and build production-grade microservices.

Qualifications

• Professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on programming with Java 8+ and modern features.
• Deep knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST APIs, microservices and enterprise app development.
• Experience designing scalable, high-performance distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of OO design, data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers and stakeholders to capture requirements and desired outcomes.
• Design and implement scalable, secure backend services and APIs in Java.
• Build prototypes, integrations, and production-grade applications in fast-paced environments.
• Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and implementation workshops.
• Translate requirements into technical designs, plans and deliverables.
• Develop backend services, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Use Devin AI and Claude Code to improve productivity and automate tasks.
• Review and validate AI-generated code for quality, security and maintainability.
• Establish guardrails for AI-assisted development and ensure compliance.
• Troubleshoot complex production and integration issues across layers.
• Collaborate with DevOps, cloud, security, data, product and customer engineering teams.
• Deploy and support solutions in cloud and customer environments.
• Create documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in AI-enabled engineering.
• Act as trusted technical advisor in customer engagements.
