Job summary

MO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs, modernizing eligibility and enrollment systems for millions of Veterans, their families, and caregivers.

The role requires strong Java 17+ experience, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and cloud-ready, scalable backend services. This is a fully remote position with travel up to 10% and US citizenship is required for the contract. Join a mission-focused team delivering government-grade software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–8 years of software development experience in professional environment.
• Strong hands on experience with Java development.
• Hands on experience developing REST APIs and web services.
• Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues.
• Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments.
• Developing and maintaining backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs.
