Job summary

TeamViewer in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced Java backend engineer to power TeamViewer Tia as part of the AI for End-Users team. You will design scalable backend services, integrate AI capabilities, and ensure security and reliability across the platform.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to AI assets and documentation, and collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver high-quality AI-powered experiences. This role offers flexible PTO and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with strong Java expertise.
• Proven experience building scalable, distributed backend systems.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI or agent-based capabilities into applications and services.
• Experience using AI coding tools effectively while maintaining accountability for code quality and security.
• Strong automated testing skills and experience preventing regressions in complex systems.
• Understanding of common AI system challenges and approaches to mitigate them.
• Strong communication skills, a structured problem-solving mindset, and fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Java backend services that power TeamViewer Tia and its integrations across the platform.
• Design scalable, reliable backend systems that combine AI capabilities with core business logic.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and maintainability.
• Develop automated testing and evaluation frameworks to ensure changes can be released safely and confidently.
• Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Contribute to shared AI assets such as prompts, tool definitions, and technical documentation.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices for AI-assisted software development.
