Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Senior Java backend engineer in Austin, TX to build scalable backend services powering TeamViewer Tia. The role involves designing components that balance model-driven behavior with deterministic business logic, and delivering high-quality, secure code.

You will work with AI coding agents, guide architecture decisions, and help establish robust automated testing and evaluation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Java expertise and solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience designing and building distributed, scalable backend systems.
• Strong focus on clean code and object-oriented design.
• Hands-on experience integrating model-based or agentic capabilities into backend services.
• Regular use of AI coding agents with accountability for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Ability to design and implement automated testing strategies for high volumes of generated code and regression prevention.
• Understanding of AI system failure modes such as hallucinations, context degradation, prompt injection, non-determinism, and silent regressions.
• Effective mitigation approaches for AI system failure modes.
• Structured and analytical working style.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Ability to collaborate across teams including EMEA.

Responsibilities

• Build Java backend services powering TeamViewer Tia for end users, from feature APIs to integration points with the wider platform
• Design components where model-driven behavior meets deterministic business logic, keeping boundaries explicit, testable, and reliable
• Use AI coding agents to deliver at pace while owning architecture decisions, code quality, security, and maintainability
• Build automated test and evaluation coverage for safely merging generated changes without regressions
• Optimize backend services for conversational and agentic product needs, including latency, cost, caching, streaming, and batching
• Maintain shared context assets such as agent instructions, tool definitions, prompt templates, and domain documentation
• Mentor engineers on agent-assisted development and raise team standards for safe, effective AI-native engineering
