Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Staff Engineer for the CCAT team in Southlake, TX. You will own client-facing functionality from scoping to production, set technical direction, and lead architectural decisions while coding in Java on GCP and PCF.

You’ll help define AI-assisted practices and mentor across teams, delivering high-impact projects in a product-driven environment. The role emphasizes ownership, accountability, and a view of the product as yours.

Qualifications

• 10+ yrs: Java, Spring, cloud, REST + SOAP in high-volume environments.
• 4–6 yrs: Distributed NoSQL DBs; PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Yugabyte.
• 4+ yrs: Real-time data and streaming.
• 4+ yrs: Continuous build (Bamboo, Bitbucket/Git).
• 3+ yrs: GCP and/or AWS/Azure.
• 3+ yrs: Event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• 2+ yrs: CI/CD in cloud deployment.
• 1+ yr: Batch/data pipelines (Spring Batch, PySpark).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of client-facing functionality from scoping through production rollout.
• Set technical direction — architecture guidance, unblock delivery, raise engineering quality bar.
• Build hands-on in Java on GCP and PCF; remain a working engineer.
• Establish team-level AI-assisted engineering practices — Copilot, Claude Code, spec-driven workflows.
• Mentor engineers and partner across product, architecture, vendors, and offshore teams.
