Charles Schwab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Schwab Technology Services Research & Development in Austin, TX. The role focuses on designing, building, and evaluating innovative tech solutions, including Generative AI and cloud-native platforms, collaborating with architects, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver prototypes and production-ready systems.

The engineer will mentor junior engineers, contribute to engineering best practices, and work on a hybrid in-person

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Ambiguity-to-prototype delivery experience.
• Experience with AI technologies (LLMs, agentic systems, AI observability).
• Experience applying ML or data science techniques to validate hypotheses.
• Proficiency in two or more languages: Java, Python, Go, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions using modern engineering practices.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies through investigations, prototypes, and proof-of-value initiatives; communicate findings, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with architects and senior technical leaders to define technical approaches and implementation strategies.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand problems and deliver practical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
