Job summary

Aquent is partnering with a leading financial services institution to modernize core transactional systems and technology infrastructure. We seek a senior Java developer who blends cloud-native engineering with practical AI across the software lifecycle.

You will build and modernize Java/Spring services, adopt AI-assisted workflows for implementation, testing, refactoring, troubleshooting, code review, automation, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, SW Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering, with recent Java and Spring experience.
• Experience building large-scale web services supporting high-volume transactions.
• Cloud-native engineering experience: microservices, containers, CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience deploying AI/ML/LLM in production.
• Experience using generative AI coding assistants within IDE/CLI workflows.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated output for quality, security, and maintainability.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or similar cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance large-scale Java/Spring services in cloud environments.
• Build highly available systems supporting high-volume transactions.
• Apply generative AI across the software development lifecycle: implementation, testing, refactoring, automation, documentation.
• Use AI coding assistants to generate code and tests and streamline reviews.
• Deploy AI/ML/LLM-enabled solutions in production environments.
• Develop agentic and spec-driven workflows translating designs into implementation plans.
• Create prompts, instructions, and standards for AI-assisted development.
• Design, build, and maintain containerized microservices in cloud environments.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and modernize legacy systems to distributed architectures.
• Identify risks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure performance, security, and scalability.
