Job summary
AECOM is seeking a Senior ITS Engineer in Charlotte, NC to provide technical leadership, project management, and strategic direction for ITS, traffic signal systems, and TSMO initiatives. The role drives planning, design, deployment, integration, operation, and performance optimization for advanced transportation networks.
The candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor staff, support business development, and coordinate with public agencies to deliver safe, reliable mobility solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Transportation, or related engineering field.
- 10 years of progressive transportation operations/ITS/TSMO experience or equivalent.
- PE licensure or ability to obtain NC PE within six months.
- Experience in ITS planning, design, deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience with fiber optic and wireless transportation communications.
Responsibilities
- Lead ITS, traffic signal systems planning, design, deployment, and maintenance.
- Serve as technical lead for transportation technology initiatives.
- Oversee signal timing, coordination, and performance monitoring.
- Develop dashboards, ATSPM strategies, and data-driven improvements.
- Coordinate with state DOTs, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and support business development activities.
